Iron Kettles

The iron kettle is a small appliance made of cast iron and used in the kitchen or outside for preparing tea, heating water or to prepare some beverage with the help of hot water. In lat 19th century and beginning of the 20th century people used iron kettles for various purposes. Those included heating water, making tea etc.These iron kettles resembled tea pots in their size. iron kettles can be used to heat water by placing it over a buring source of fire such as burning wood, burning coal, burning gas, kerosene stove or even on a electric heater coil. There are different types of iron kettles available such as stove top iron kettle, electric iron kettle  etc. The term kettle is etymologically derived from the Latin word cattilus which means a bowl a funnel etc. The iron kettles were made by putting melted iron into a mold. In the late 19th century the iron kettles gained popularity because stoves were no longer required to boil water or heat water. This device could be used to heat water for a cup of coffee and it was cost effective to use this. However this created a lot of kerosene fumes. One of the very good character of iron kettles is this is a good thermal conductor and does not require much thermal energy to serve your purpose. Some iron kettles come with stands and look like a tripod. It has some space below its base where you can put small piece of wood or other items to burn it and get heat to use for the kettle. The iron kettles are durable and cheap. That is why it is so popular amongst people. It will last for a life time if you have bought a iron kettle. However you have to take care so that it does not catch rust. There are several ways to keep it rust free. You should adopt them to keep the iron kettle rust free. However, it your iron kettle catches rust it will corrode soon. Once you have used your kettle, wash it and wipe the water from its internal and external surfaces and store the iron kettle in a dry place where there is not much moisture, By using it carefully you can increase the longevity of your iron kettle. You can take the iron kettle conveniently with you  if you are going on an outing or to the forest for fun.
